INTER RUE MISSING OUT ON BATIGOL
Batistuta held secret talks with Inter in May of this year, as his departure from Fiorentina moved closer, but Moratti has revealed that the Viola were unwilling to sell their prize asset to Inter, choosing to accept Roma's bid instead.
"We had an agreement with Batistuta in place, but Fiorentina wanted to sell him to Roma," said Moratti. "Let's hope he doesn't punish us on Wednesday."
With Roma currently sitting top of the Serie A table, Inter will not relish playing host to Fabio Capello's men, as they look to improve on their disappointing start to the season.
Meanwhile, speaking of the contract dispute with unsettled striker Alvaro Recoba, Moratti added: "He's an important player for us and he tried to push us as far as possible to get the best deal he could, but there's a limit to anybody's patience. His indecision is a big problem for us."
Inter's bitter rivals AC Milan are the latest club to show an interest in the Uruguayan hit-man. It is believed that Milan are ready to offer the player a big-money deal to tempt him to move across the city when his current deal with Inter runs out at the end of the season.
