PARDEW KEEPING TABS ON WOAN

READING boss Alan Pardew has not given up hope of signing former Nottingham Forest winger Ian Woan, despite losing out on him to Swindon this week.

Woan, 32, was released by Nottingham Forest after ten years at the club in the summer and again found himself without a contract after failing to impress former City Ground boss Dave Bassett at Barnsley in a two month stint from the start of this season.

The left-sided player, who was a contender for the England side and almost joined Tottenham for £3 million in more halcyon times in his career, chose Swindon over The Royals last week and has since turned out twice for The Robins.

However, former Crystal Palace midfielder Pardew - who has guided Reading to the top of Division Two this season - still thinks he may be able to persuade Woan to come to the Majeski Stadium in the future.

"We looked to take him for a week but Swindon came in with an offer for a month," Pardew said. "I`ll keep an eye on him because he`s a quality player.
