PERRY TO LEAVE DONS FOR FREE
The Dons have restored defender Perry to the list three months after first telling him he could go and the 29-year-old former Dundee United player is able to go for free because his contract ends next June.
Ebbe Skovdahl originally told Perry he had no future at Pittodrie at the start of the season, but an injury crisis saw the Dons manager recall the player from a trial at Notts County after Russell Anderson, Thomas Solberg and Jamie McAllister all ended up on the treatment table.
However, Solberg and McAllister have regained fitness and teenagers Philip McGuire and Kevin McNaughton have made explosive entries into the first team at full back and centre, where back Perry specialised, so now he is free to fix up a move elsewhere.
Perry spent ten years with Dundee United before joining Aberdeen, his home-town team, in 1998. He made 34 appearances in 1998-99 and 18 last term.
Dons boss Skovdahl has told McNaughton, 18, that he can be as good as the stars of Denmark's European Championship side of 1992.
The Danish manager has been so impressed by McNaughton's maturity and puts the Pittodrie kid on a par with the great Danes of eight years ago.
"Eight of that side had come through the youth ranks at Brondby, where I was in charge, and Kevin is up there alongside them for ability and potential," said Skovdahl. "He has great stamina and skill."
