LENNON REVEALS DELIGHT

NEIL LENNON has revealed that he is `fulfilling a lifetime ambition` by moving from Leicester City to Celtic in a £5.75 million move.

Speaking at a press conference to announce his transfer to Parkhead, Lennon also scotched the speculation that Chelsea made a last ditch attempt to sign him and refused to comment on the speculation that he took a significant drop in wages to make the move.

When asked about the proposed interest of Chelsea and his financial position, Lennon said: "It`s not true about Chelsea and I don`t want to go into the ins and outs of the contract but, needless to say, I was desperate to come here, especially when the gaffer took over.

"I am fulfilling a lifetime ambition to come here. I have been playing for 13 years and this is the pinnacle."

Martin O`Neill spoke of his delight at finally capturing the former Crewe midfielder, saying: "I'm getting an excellent footballer who I obviously know a lot about.

"I signed him from Crewe in 1996 and I've got him again. He's been absolutely brilliant for Leicester City FC and he was one of the major reasons why there was success at the football club.

"I obviously think very very highly of him, otherwise I wouldn't have spent £5.7 million on buying him. The opportunity has come round again and I'm delighted that he's here at the football club.

"I genuinely believe there aren't too many clubs he would have left Leicester for."
