HUGHES COMMITTED TO BAGGIES` CAUSE

LEE HUGHES has distanced himself from reports linking him with a move to Manchester City, claiming that he is committed to helping West Brom ascend into the Premiership.

The talented striker has been in fine form for The Baggies this term, slamming in the goals that have helped his side to fourth in the table and he is eager to carry on doing this.

It was being reported that Hughes was a target for Joe Royle`s Citizens, in a bid to add some proven striking talent to the team, but the former Kidderminster Harriers star is content with life at The Hawthorns.

"My ambition is still to get West Bromwich Albion in the Premiership," the 24-year-old said. "That's my first aim in life.

"I've supported them all my life and hopefully I can get them up there for the first time in a few years."

Of the speculation surrounding himself, Hughes commented: "I've had it ever since I've been at the club, but I just ignore it. I'll get on with my game and try to score as many goals as possible for West Brom to hopefully get them up in the Premiership."

Hughes feels Albion`s aim to get into the Premiership is achievable, saying: "We've got a good enough team and the gaffer's trying to build on the squad. We've already got quite a few Premiership quality players."
