KILNER HITS BACK OVER TOD SAGA

STOCKPORT have hit back at Dunfermline, over the transfer saga surrounding defender Andy Tod, after The Pars threatened County with Fifa action if they did not allow him to return to East End Park.

Over the weekend, Dunfermline boss Jimmy Calderwood claimed that his Stockport counterpart, Andy Kilner, reneged on a deal that would allow Tod to return from his loan spell at Edgeley Park if they had a string of injuries.

At the time, Crawford said: "There are a lot of bad things in football, but this is the worst I've encountered.

"How can a manager go back on an agreement? You think you can trust managers, so you don't sign things and take a verbal agreement to help them out - then they have the cheek to say the deal was not binding."

However, Kilner has countered, saying: "The rules are simple and straightforward. A player can only be recalled if all three parties agree and in this instance two parties, Stockport County and Andy Tod himself, do not.

"It's incredible to think he couldn't play in Scotland or for us at Sheffield. Things are very messy and the matter is going to Fifa."

Tod went on loan to Stockport in October and his three-month deal ends on January 3.
