SAVIO DISMISSES TRANSFER TALK
REAL MADRID`S Savio, has quashed new rumours in the Brazilian media, linking him with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old Brazilian winger was reportedly set to make a move to either France or England when the Spanish transfer window re-opened, but he and his agent, Joao Areias, have denied this.
"My only desire is to play in the position that I occupied with Flamengo, in the position in which I like with Real Madrid," said Savio. "I would also like to return to the Brazilian squad, although there always I have played as a forward."
Savio also talked about a recent meeting with Real director Jorge Valdano, but he denied it was to discuss a new deal.
"The meeting was very warm and also very brief, we did not speak more than five or ten minutes. In the conversation we did not speak of transfer or contract since I have contract until the 2003.
"The only thing that I want is to play in my normal position, like I did in Toledo, but clearly I would like to play more minutes."
Areias also denied any knowledge of a move, saying: "It was Portugal yesterday, and today it is England and France. Next it will be Savio goes to China.
"The situation has not changed, it is his desire is to return to the Brazilian squad and knows that the only way to do it is playing, for that reason he is displeased, but he will leave Madrid."
"Savio does not have the decision, the club is the one who decides, and has already decided that the player is intransferible. The club has the power and Savio remains, but if the manager continues playing him so little, the club will have to look for a solution."
Chelsea had been interested in the Brazilian earlier this season, but they turned to Ajax`s Jesper Gronkjaer, after they failed to come to an agreement with Savio.
