JAMES COMES OFF LIST BUT ON ATTACK
James had requested to be placed on the transfer list - with a lack of ambition reported to be his major problem, and the lack of compromise on a new contract extension.
However, the powerful keeper, angered by media speculation and the fact that his request was leaked, has now reversed his decision to go on the transfer list.
"After some reflection on the events of the weekend, I believe it is in the best interests of Aston Villa that I should withdraw the transfer request I gave to the club last Thursday," James admitted.
"I will, however, not be signing an extension to my contract at this time. I think it is time to just concentrate 100 per cent on my football. I was disappointed that my request was leaked from within the club on the day before a game.
"This is indicative of the problems at Aston Villa at the moment and is not helping to generate the kind of spirit that is necessary in a successful team. I feel that this certainly affected the atmosphere at the game on Saturday.
"I now believe it is time for the players, management, board and fans to pull together to achieve our potential which I believe should be a place in the Champions League."
