HAMMERS SNAP UP CAMARA

WEST HAM have completed the signing of Liverpool's out-of-favour striker Titi Camara in a deal thought to be worth £2.2 million.

The deal was delayed after negotiations between the club and his advisers broke down earlier in the week, but the problems have been resolved and the player has sealed his move to Upton Park.

Camara passed a medical on Thursday and put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal.

Hammers boss Harry Redknapp decided to make a move for the exciting forward after failing in a bid to sign Robbie Keane from Internazionale.

The Guinean international fell out of favour at Anfield after an argument with Reds boss Gerard Houllier and was placed on the transfer list by the Frenchman.

The talented, if unpredictable, forward had been linked with a number of clubs since being frozen out of Houllier's plans including Tottenham, Leeds, Manchester City and Serie A outfit Perugia.

Camara is hopeful of achieving success with his new club and he admitted he is looking forward to playing with Paolo di Canio.

"I think the side can reach the top 5 but it is up to the players to give their maximum to achieve the objectives laid down by the boss," Camara told the club's official website. "But we will need a lot of luck, no injuries, and no suspensions.

"When you see the great players like Sinclair and Kanoute here, who have passed the test, then you see what potential there is.

"And it will be my pride to play with Paolo di Canio as well. This team plays well on the ball.

"I come here with open arms to reach a good place but the moment to pass the test will be on the pitch.

"I think we can worry a lot of teams this season. I have come to express my talent in a good place and if I get a title or a cup I will be happy."

The 28-year-old, who has not played a senior game this season, will team up with former Liverpool team-mate Rigobert Song at West Ham, who joined the club last month after also failing to win a regular place in The Reds' starting eleven.Camara is 6/1 to score the opener on his debut at Leicester this Saturday.
