NUNEZ RETURNS TO SUNDERLAND

Villa boss John Gregory has been scouring the globe for a forward to bolster his shot-shy attack and he brought Nunez in to run the rule over him, but it now seems that he will have to stay on Wearside.

The Birmingham side are now stepping up their interest in River Plate star Juan Pablo Angel, meaning Nunez is not needed.

The Honduran international, nicknamed Tyson, has failed to make an impact at the Stadium of Light since his move on transfer deadline day last season, but he has failed to break into Peter Reid`s first team.

The likes of Niall Quinn, Kevin Phillips and Daniel Dichio have blocked his path and it would now seem that he will have to look elsewhere for a move.

Racing Genk and Athletic Celaya both approached Sunderland about a loan switch, but had to end their interest when it emerged that they could not fund the deal.
