BERGER REMOVES KNEE BRACE

LIVERPOOL`s injured Czech Republic star Patrik Berger has received a pre-Christmas boost, with the news that he has been allowed to remove the brace that was protecting his injured knee.

The forward suffered ligament damage against Leeds in early November and had to undergo an operation to solve the problem.

Berger believes that his rehabilitation can now be stepped up, with him saying: "I'm pleased with the way I'm progressing after my knee operation.

"Tuesday was the last day I had to wear the brace which kept my knee straight and it means that I can do more exercises which should strengthen my muscles over the next couple of weeks. That's a big boost to me."

Berger earlier revealed that he was aiming for a February return, and this seems to still be the plan.
