OWEN LINKED WITH £25 MILLION INTER MOVE

MICHAEL OWEN has once more been at the centre of transfer speculation - with the Liverpool and England striker linked with a £25 million move to Italian giants Internazionale.

Owen, who remains first choice at Liverpool ahead of Robbie Fowler but is being made to fight hard for his place, has been admired by many of Europe's top clubs - but the English media are now suggesting that a £25 million bid will be made.

Inter have not had a successful start to the season, replacing Marcello Lippi after just a few games with Marco Tardelli.

However the former Italian Under-21 boss has also seen his side underachieve and, somewhat cryptically, recently stated that his massively talented squad was 'not as strong as he had though it was.'

A move for Owen would seem to be wild speculation at this point, with Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier far more likely to agree to a big-money bid for Robbie Fowler.

However, Inter are one of the richest clubs in the world, and despite the failure of Robbie Keane to win a place under Tardelli - Owen may welcome the chance to rekindle his stellar career with a move to Serie A.
