PRESTON BAG UNITED STARLET
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international though, has joined on a short-term loan in order for him to make his debut on Saturday against Sheffield United and then the formalities of the permanent deal will be completed on Tuesday.
North End`s previous transfer record is £500,000, which ironically was also to Manchester United for midfielder Michael Appleton, but the fee for Healy is set to be more than three times that as a sum of more than £1.5 million is being suggested.
"Because of the deadlines for signing players today, we have taken the unusual step of signing him on a short loan and we will make the signing permanent on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, again subject to the player passing his medical," confirmed Moyes to the Preston official website.
"David is a player we have been trying to sign for some time and have been monitoring and at last we have someone who we want at the club.
"We are signing someone who is 21-years-old and someone who is the type of player we like to bring to the club. He is a full international who has scored five goals in seven games.
"He hasn't played many games for Manchester United, but maybe if he had we wouldn't be talking about £1.5 million, but a lot more, so I feel we have got him at the right time and the right price.
"I feel he is someone who will make a good addition to our squad and will join the other young players who we are hoping to build a side around ready to get into the Premiership in years to come.
"David will be with the team today and will come with us to the hotel in Sheffield tonight and he will prepare for the game tomorrow."
Healy will be the fourth former United player to move to the Lancashire club in recent years and will join Colin Murdock, Jon Macken and Appleton at Deepdale.
