BARRETT OFFERED EXTENDED STAY AT PIRATES

BRISTOL ROVERS manager Ian Holloway is hoping to extend Graham Barrett's stay at the club until the end of the season, as he prepares to travel to Ireland on a scouting mission.

Barrett has made just one substitute appearance for Rovers since joining them on loan in December, having suffered a sever throat infection just days after moving to Bristol.

However, with the 19-year-old now back available for selection, and with Martin Cameron continuing to struggle with an ankle injury, Holloway is keen to keep Barrett at The Memorial Stadium until the end of the season.

"I have spoken to Liam Brady at Arsenal and he will talk to Graham about the possibility of coming down for the rest of the season," said Holloway. "We rate him very highly but it is up to him."

Meanwhile, Holloway is to take advantage of a break in the club's fixtures by travelling to Ireland to run the rule over a pair of players in the Eircom League that have been recommended to him by the club's scouts.

Rovers visited Ireland on tour during their pre-season preparations, and they have since been scouring the Eircom League for the cream of available talent to help bolster their Second Division campaign.
