REDS GET LITMANEN?
SPECULATION is mounting that Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Barcelona midfielder Jari Litmanen, with the Finland international said to have passed a medical at Anfield.
The 29-year-old has been unhappy at Camp Nou for some time, and was linked with a number of clubs across Europe - as well as in the Premiership - before a "mystery English side" were said to be in for him on Tuesday.
It now appears that the club was Liverpool, who already boast Finnish defender Sami Hyypia in their squad, were the interested party.
Barcelona are expected to free him from his contract with them in order to allow Litmanen to sign a two-and-half year deal with The Reds.
Former Ajax star Litmanen is a self-confessed Liverpool supporter, and the opportunity of running out at Anfield now looks to be a dream turning to reality.
