VEGA HOPEFUL OVER CELTIC SWITCH
The Swiss international, who has joined until the end of the season from Tottenham, has impressed in his short time at Parkhead and he is expected to hold talks with Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill during the club's winter break about securing a permanent deal.
Vega is out of contract at the end of the season and is hopeful of making a permanent switch to Glasgow having proved to be something of a revelation in the league leaders' side.
In the four games since he has moved, Vega has helped Celtic to four successive wins including two goals on his debut in the 6-0 rout of Aberdeen. He is now hoping to put behind him the poor times at White Hart Lane where he struggled to make the team and became a target of abuse from angry fans.
"As far as staying here for longer is concerned, the ball is in the club's court but it is time to sit down and talk to them," said Vega.
"Of course I am enjoying it here. I came in to a club that was already top of the league and it is a very positive environment.
"We have been successful in my first four games, keeping clean sheets. I've enjoyed each of them and I would think of staying even longer now."
The former Cagliari ace also declared that he feels Celtic would do more than hold their own if they ever were to play in the English Premiership.
"If Celtic played in England I think they would do well," said Vega. "They would be near the top of the Premiership, certainly in the top six. There's no doubt Celtic could compete at the top of that league.
"It is very different here from how it is at Spurs, who are having a very bad period. Celtic are top of the league while Tottenham have had hard times in each of the four years I have been there.
"It is a good change for me. It is fantastic really.
"There is a fantastic atmosphere here compared to White Hart Lane.
"If you are not winning, the heads go down and people get depressed. I have had that for four years at Spurs. It is not nice.
"But being here at Celtic is a completely new experience for me and I am loving it."
