KLUIVERT EYES ENGLISH MOVE
The 24-year-old Dutchman was strongly linked to Arsenal two-and-a-half years ago, although this move fell through, but speaking on his personal website about the transfer of team-mate Jari Litmanen to Liverpool, he added that the thought of playing in The Premiership later in his career appeals strongly.
"Like Jari, I've always wanted to play in England," Kluivert said. "One day, for sure, I will play in England. The question is when.
"It won't be just yet, though. My contract has another year to run after this one and my agent and Barcelona are still talking about a new contract."
Kluivert also tipped his former Ajax and Barca colleague Litmanen to be successful at Anfield, claiming he did not have the chances at Camp Nou.
"I wasn't at all surprised Jari Litmanen signed for Liverpool and I think he'll do very well there," Kluivert said. "I remember him telling me years ago when we were at Ajax together that it was his dream to play one day for Liverpool because Liverpool was always his favourite club, the team he loved from when he was a child.
"At Ajax, the fans, the players and the coaching staff all thought the world of Jari and thought he was fantastic.
"They praised him all the time - and I can't disagree with any of that! He's a perfect professional player. And as long as he plays his matches, the people at Liverpool will see how good he is.
"Jari is a terrific player, one of the best in his position in central midfield, but he needs to play regularly.
"The problem here at Barcelona is that we have many midfield players and the trainer makes the decision to use other players. And when the trainer has a different way of thinking, it's difficult.
"I think the club has to make proposals to the player, not the other way around. Nothing has been settled yet, but if everything comes out all right I think I'll sign a new contract. If not, then I'll have to reconsider and think of my future."
