HANSSON EXTENDS STOKE STAY

MIKAEL HANSSON has extended his contract with Second Division Stoke City.

The defender revealed that he has no regrets about his move to The Britannia Stadium, but claimed that he has taken time to adapt to the team`s style of play.

"I absolutely don't regret that I moved here," insisted Hansson. "From the beginning, I wasn't really tempted to play in the Second Division, but after the family had been over to visit the club, we were positively surprised.

"I signed and from that moment we have never had any regrets."

The former IFK Norrkoping ace has settled well, saying: "Apart from when I have been injured, I have played almost all matches since I came here.

"The play is quite different, we play 3-5-2, and you can say that I play in the midfield."

Hansson continued with a comment that will boost the Nationwide League, but may anger his home country, saying: "A Swedish League side wouldn't win this league."

The Swede set out the team`s aims, saying: "The goal of the club is to get promoted to the First Division. Most of all, we want to finish among the top two who get automatically promoted."
