AMORUSO DEAL DEAD

LORENZO AMORUSO'S move to West Ham appears to have fallen through, with the club reticent to pay out a big fee in the current climate of confusion over transfers, despite the Italian's desire to link up with Hammers boss Harry Redknapp.

The Upton Park boss, disappointed at missing out on the Rangers star, admitted: "I really believed we could do business but our chairman doesn't want to spend that sort of money on wages and a fee until the transfer system is resolved.

"I'm disappointed because we were keen to sign Lorenzo. I even went to Florence last week to see him. But at this moment we can't come up with the money."

Amoruso, on his return to Scotland, said: "The talks went very well, because Harry Redknapp is a nice person.

"We talked about a deal and a contract, but I am still a Rangers player and I want to do my best for them. It is no problem if I stay."
