NEVILLE: GERRARD IS THE NEW KEANE
The England stopper has stated that he would, even after less than two-thirds of the season played, Gerrard and Newcastle winger Dyer would already be in his team of the season.
He has also admitted, following the FA Cup clash with Fulham, that he would prefer to be playing with Cottagers striker Saha than against him should Jean Tigana's men reach the Premiership.
"It is coming to the time of year when the PFA choose their Premiership team of the season and, though I haven't thought about it carefully yet, I know Gerrard and Dyer are going to be in mine," Neville said, in The Times.
"I look at Gerrard and think 'he has got everything.' If you are going to win things, you need someone such as him in your team.
"If he can steer clear of injuries, he is going to be top notch. He is going to be a Roy Keane, a Graeme Souness or a Bryan Robson, a player in that class who can tackle, pass and score.
"His temperament is good too, he is not fazed by anything.
"Our manager has said that he hated the idea of Liverpool having a player in Keane's class.
"I was impressed by Dyer when we played at St James' Park. His energy is the main thing, he is irrepressible.
"He causes a lot of problems coming from deep and he would definitely be in my team as one of a central midfield three.
"It is not often United players talk about one of the opposition after a match, but we did just that after the match against Fulham. We were pleased with the win because it was a tough game, but a lot of us were discussing the performance of Saha.
"I played against him when he was with Newcastle and, to be honest, I didn't think much of him, a lanky, left-sided player who did not have much of a football brain.
"Well, I changed my mind after the Cup encounter. I don't want to talk him up too much but I thought he had a lot.
"He has a good football brain and it is obvious that he can score goals."
Neville added: "We ought to buy him so we don't have to face him in the Premiership next season!"
