DE GOEY HINTS AT CHELSEA EXIT

CHELSEA goalkeeper Ed de Goey has hinted that he may be set to leave the club, after being stunned by the signing of former Manchester United keeper Mark Bosnich last week.

The Dutchman's future has been cast into doubt in recent weeks, after he lost his place in the starting line-up to Italian custodian Carlo Cudicini and he has now seemingly slipped further down the pecking order with the arrival of Bosnich.

This has led to speculation that the keeper may be set to leave Stamford Bridge, and he has said that he will be seeking talks with Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri over his future at the club.

"I didn't expect Chelsea to sign Bosnich," said the 34-year-old. "I knew nothing about it and I am a little stunned.

"It seems I have gone from being first choice to third choice. I have not yet spoken to the coach about things, but I will.

"However, it's clear I will have to think about the situation. A keeper of my age and experience needs to be playing regular first-team football, not watching.

"I like London and my family is happy here, but my position at the club is now very different. One moment I am helping the club win five trophies and having its most successful spell ever, the next I am not involved.

"I still believe I have a few years left at the top. I had hoped that would be with Chelsea."
