SHRIMPERS SET TO SNAP UP BRAMBLE
Shrimpers boss Dave Webb saw Bramble grab a brace for their reserve team in the 3-0 win over Cheltenham on Wednesday, and this has convinced him to up his bid for the striker, after failing with a previous offer.
Cambridge boss Chris Tovey fully understands Southend's interest in his striker, tipping the player for a very bright future in the game.
"He played exceptionally well. If he gets full-time training and they can get him enjoying his football, they will have a hell of a player."
Bramble, elder brother of Ipswich defender Titus, has attracted the attention of a number of professional clubs in the past, spending a week on trial at First Division Tranmere earlier this season.
However, he now looks set to start his League career with Southend, after Webb admitted being impressed by the player, saying: "Tes is an exciting young talent and is just the sort of player I want to bring to Southend as I continue to clear out the dead wood. I rate him very highly."
The deal is expected to be finalised either over the weekend or at the start of next week, as Webb looks to strengthen his squad to help their push for promotion to Division Two this season.
