VALE SIGN YOUNG HORNET
The 19-year-old signed on a month-long loan on January 5th and has impressed Vale boss Brian Horton, managing one goal in his three games.
He has only managed substitute appearances at Watford and now just has to complete a medical to confirm his two-and-a-half year deal with The Valiants.
Brooker is out of contract at Vicarage Road at the end of the season and Hornets boss Graham Taylor has agreed to let him go for £15,000 plus a sell-on clause.
"We had agreed that price when Stephen first arrived," said Vale boss Brian Horton. "Watford could probably have taken him back and asked for more money after the way Stephen has played, but Graham Taylor has stuck to his word.
Taylor was happy to give his young striker a chance of first team action and is confident that he will score goals at Vale Park.
"Stephen needs to get his career going and I believe this move will enable him to do so," said Watford manager Graham Taylor.
"If a player cannot get first-team football at Watford, then it is our job to help him get first-team football elsewhere. It would not surprise me at all if Stephen were to score a lot of goals."
