LACEY COMMITS HIMSELF TO SWANS

SWANSEA CITY midfielder Damien Lacey has committed himself to the Third Division outfit for another two-and-a-half years after signing a new contract on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old has seen his career blighted by injury and missed the beginning of the season with a stress fracture of the heel.

Recently, however, Lacey's fitness problems have eased and he will now be hoping that he is able to maintain his place in the City midfield.

Manager John Hollins (pictured) commented: "I'm very pleased to sign Damien for another two years. He's been out for a long time with an unusual, but serious injury.

"He's improving with every game, fitness-wise, and now I'm looking for him to get back to doing the things he was doing before he was injured."

Lacey is the latest in a string of players to commit their future to the Welsh club, following in the wake of Kristian O'Leary, Steve Watkin and goalkeeper Roger Freestone.
