BLADES PUT RUMOURS TO THE SWORD

NEIL WARNOCK has dismissed reports alleging that FC Copenhagen striker David Nielsen is in talks with Sheffield United.

After completing a three-month loan spell at Grimsby Town, speculation has been rife as to the future of the unsettled striker, with reports linking him to a variety of clubs including The Blades' cross-city rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City.

Nielsen told the Danish press that he is close to completing a move, saying:

"We are only talking about clubs from the First Division. Some parts should be in place already, or early on Monday."

Warnock also poured scorn on rumours that he is taking a close interest in the affairs of troubled Chesterfield in the hope of picking up some cut-price bargains.

The Sheffield press had reported that The Blades boss was hoping to capitalise on the current crisis at Saltergate by tempting players to Bramall Lane for a fraction of their market value.
