GALCA IN NEW ENGLISH TWIST

CONSTANTIN GALCA appears to be in a position to engineer his own move to England, after admitting that a bid has been tabled for him, but he is waiting for other offers before deciding on his future.

The Barcelona-based club were said to be unhappy with the news, but the decision is down to Galca because of Espanyol's poor financial situation, as they cannot afford his contract.

Galca, who is taking advice from his agent, Angel Castells, said: "There is a great offer from England, but I've decided to remain until the end of the season.  I like the city and wanted to be liked but it has never supported me at the most difficult moments.

"I'm leaving any decision on my future till the 30th of June, because what I want to do is play and be calm."

Arsenal have been interested in the player, but last season Galca decided to stay at Espanyol after a summer of uncertainty.

The new offer on the table is a four-year contract for the player and Espanyol to receive around 100 million pesetas (£382,000).

Galca continued: "All the offers that arrive we will listen to, but we are going to see what is going to happen.

"I have a four-year contract and everybody knows what the situation of Espanyol is.  Calm?  It is not, but I have much to follow in the club."

According to reports, Galca will be allowed to move for free, unless the player agrees to the buying club paying some money to Espanyol.

It would appear that a summer of speculation is in store, once again, for the Romanian international.
