SHREEVES KEEN TO BRING BOOTH BACK

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY caretaker manager Peter Shreeves has confirmed that he will recall striker Andy Booth to Yorkshire when he completes his one-month loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

Shreeves took temporary charge of The Owls for the third time this week, after the club parted company with former manager Paul Jewell, and he has made Booth's return one of his primary issues.

The former Spurs boss feels that 27-year-old Booth could play a crucial part in the club's First Division relegation battle this season, saying: "He's always been a favourite of mine because of his competitive spirit.

"He's done extremely well at Spurs, but I think I've made it clear to Andy that when that month is up I would want him back in the fold here to help fight the cause for survival.

"Andy's enjoyed his time at Tottenham, but I think this is his home stable. He never gave me an argument because he's a Yorkshire lad through and through."

Tottenham boss George Graham made the surprise move to bring Booth to White Hart Lane last month, as cover for his injury-hit attack, and he has made use of the striker in three games so far, starting him in two games.
