INJURY BLOW FOR LEO

TOTTENHAM midfielder Oyvind Leonhardsen has broken his ankle as a result of the challenge with Stockport County captain Mick Flynn.

The clash occurred after just 14 minutes of Spurs' comfortable 4-1 FA Cup win and forced the Norwegian international to be substituted by boss George Graham.

The 30-year-old has said that the force of the clash actually went through his shin pads and made the injury worse.

"The kick was so hard that the stud went through and I got a wound on the leg," said Leonhardsen.

"It was easy to see that I got the ball, and I don't like those kind of challenges."

The former Liverpool and Wimbledon player now faces up to six weeks out of action.

Meanwhile, fellow Norwegian Steffen Iversen was supposed to be fit for the FA Cup tie on Saturday but was forced to miss the game with a throat infection.

The illness is the latest blow for the striker who has been out of action with a knee injury.

"I am getting sick of illness and injuries," Iversen told Football247. "I am on a ten-day penicillin cure and will miss another 14 days of the season.

"My knee feels fine so that is not a problem but I am getting inpatient I have had my fare share of setbacks now."
