TILER BACK AT THE VALLEY

BIRMINGHAM CITY have let defender Carl Tiler return to Charlton Athletic after a loan spell at St Andrews did not work out for the former Barnsley ace.

Tiler's only match for The Blues came in a 3-1 defeat at Sheffield United before he was dropped to the bench for the clash with promotion rivals West Brom.

"I have decided that Carl can go back to Charlton," confirmed Blues boss Trevor Francis.

"It is unfortunate, but there is no point in him being here and not playing."

Tiler was left out of Birmingham's squad to face Preston on Tuesday and with Darren Purse returning from injury and Peter Atherton arriving on-loan from Bradford, the defender`s chances of first-team action for the Worthington Cup finalists were slim.
