THOMSON REJECTS O`S MOVE

GILLINGHAM striker Andy Thomson has rejected a loan move to Leyton Orient.

The 33-year-old, who scored The Gills` play-off-winning goal against Wigan, was given the option to make the move by boss Andy Hessenthaler, but rejected the switch.

Thomson scored two goals against The O`s in a midweek reserve game, and they approached Gillingham above a potential deal, but the player was not interested.

Hessenthaler confirmed this, saying: "They made an enquiry, but I put the question to Andy and he doesn`t want to go there.

"It`s not a problem.  He`s still a part of our club and any move has to be right for him."

Thomson also rejected a switch to Bury earlier in the season, but it would seem that he is likely to move when he finds a suitable destination.

Meanwhile, The Gills` two trialists, Andy Sambrook and Alfie Carter impressed during the Leyton Orient clash.

Hessenthaler commented: "Wayne Jacobs told me Andy did very well although he looked a bit tired.

"We were interested in the summer when he played in pre-season and did very well.  There`s something about him and he was very solid on Wednesday.

"Although he lacks a bit of height for a centre half, he can play at sweeper or right back as well.

"Alfie scored two goals but needs a few more games.  I`ll have a good look at him next week and might involve him against Copenhagen on Tuesday."
