BAYERN WANT KAHN FOR LIFE

OLIVER KAHN is to be offered a new deal which would see him end his career with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The German number one had voiced his intent to obtain a fresh challenge, sparking speculation that Arsenal and Liverpool would love to offer him the prospect of playing in England.

However, Bayern vice-president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is keen to persuade the 31-year-old to extend his current deal, which expires in 2003.

"We need Olli Kahn still for a very long time," said the former German international sharpshooter. "This is because of his performance, his versatility and his personality.

"He makes the difference. People love such integral figures.

"We will find a solution. Oliver Kahn will carry on with us until he gets his pension!"

Rummenigge also praised transfer targets Tottenham defender Sol Campbell and Spartak Moscow`s Egor Titov, although both could end up being too expensive for the Bavarian side.

"Campbell is an interesting player and Titov is a fine footballer," he commented to the German press.
