MEDINA MOVE WAIT

SUNDERLAND look like they will have to wait before pulling off the signing of Argentinian target Nicolas Medina.

Argentinos Juniors are keen to raise funds but they reportedly only own 50 percent of the player`s contract, with a group of Spanish agents believed to hold the other half of the midfielder`s value.

"There is a firm interest to buy him," commented an Argentinos representative, and Peter Reid travelled to South America in a bid to watch the player in action.

However, Medina did not start the match with Racing and any move would appear to be on hold.

Although Argentinos want to sell their stake in the player, the complications involved when agents own part of the contracts, as Aston Villa found when landing Juan Pablo Angel, may hamper Reid`s attempts to pull off the transfer.

Julian Arca`s presence at The Stadium of Light may help convince Medina that his future lies on Wearside but, if no deal is forthcoming within the next few days, no developments will occur until the summer, due to the transfer deadline running out on Thursday.
