NUNEZ TO STAY AT SUNDERLAND
The Honduran international, who has only made one appearance this season, as a substitute in the Worthington Cup game against Luton Town, has been linked with a number of moves this season, but the striker is determined to stay and fight for his place on Wearside.
The 28-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the club since his £1.6 million move from PAOK Salonika in March last year and it was widely expected that he would leave The Black Cats in search of first-team football.
The striker nicknamed "Tyson" has failed to make an impression on the partnership of Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips and he is well down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light with Danny Dichio and Don Hutchison used as emergency strikers whenever Quinn or Phillips have not been available.
Nunez travelled back to England at the weekend after playing for his country to hold talks with Sunderland chairman Bob Murray and club secretary Mark Blackburn about his future, and he has agreed to stay with Peter Reid's side.
"The only one who could sort this out was me and that is why I travelled alone," said Nunez. "It was difficult to travel to England and to have a meeting but maybe something profitable can be taken out of this for the future."
Nunez has now travelled back to Honduras for the international clash with United States and he admitted that all he is thinking about now is playing in that game.
"Now the trip to England has been put aside, my mind is already on the game," said Nunez.
