KEITA CAUGHT IN PASSPORT NET

Oviedo ace Keita was being investigated just like many of the other non-EU players and the African star was using French documents, which he claimed was legitimate.

The Spanish FA wrote to the French government to confirm this and on Wednesday made the following announcement: "Regarding the case of Mr Keita from 22nd March 2001. 

"Mr Keita does not have French nationality.  Mr Keita has falsified passport 94CL84704, changing the marital status along with the photograph of the real passport holder."

Since the moment Keita started to be investigated, he has not played a single game for Oviedo. 

The Spanish FA have informed the club of their actions, but have yet to announce whether Oviedo or the player will be hit with a fine.

Next Friday the Spanish FA will meet in Las Palmas to discuss whether or not to maintain the suspensions of Rayo's Gustavo Bartlet, Tenerife's Barata and Granada's Carlos Mova, all of whom have been suspended since April 4.

So far the Spanish FA have only suspended five players indefinitely, four from the lower leagues, along with Espanyol's Paraguayan international Delio Toledo, who was found in possession of a false Spanish passport.
