MONTELLA SCORES WINNER FOR ITALY

VINCENZO MONTELLA continued his impressive second half of the season by grabbing the only goal of the game in Italy's 1-0 victory against South Africa.

The Italian side picked up the victory after the Roma striker converted with 62 minutes on the clock - keeping up the winning ways that have seen them all but qualify from their World Cup qualification group.

The goal, Montella's first for his nation, came after Stefano Fiore's through ball gave him the chance to lob the ball over advancing South Africa keeper Hans Vonk.

Montella has finally shown signs his true form this season, after struggling for a first team shirt at Roma behind Marco Delvecchio and Gabriel Batistuta - and has made himself an integral part of Italian coach Giovanni Trapattoni's plans.
