BARCA AND KLUIVERT REMAIN IN TALKS
Gaspart has told his star striker that he will be sold in the summer if he does not accept the re-negotiated contract that is current on offer.
Kluivert's representatives are believed to have asked for 1,000 million pesetas per annum (£3.74 million), 700 million (£2.62 million) net.
With additional bonuses for games played, goals and honours, Kluivert's wage will be considerably enhanced.
Barcelona, however, have responded with an offer of 'only' 500 million pesetas (£1.87 million).
However, with Real Madrid poised in the wings, another Luis Figo situation would be unacceptable for the Camp Nou Cules and it is likely this is bluster from Gaspart.
With Pep Guardiola already due to leave, Gaspart cannot allow too many high-profile stars to leave, meaning there should be some flexibility in the club's meetings with Kluivert and his main agent Sigi Lens.
Rivaldo has already negotiated new terms last summer and the increase on Kluivert's wages will see a significant increase in Barca's pay-roll.
Player like Xavi, Gabril, Carles Puyol, Michael Reiziger, Luis Enrique and Frank de Boer are all in talks with the club and it would appear there will be a major change in the wage structure at Barca.
