MAUL CLOSE TO HANSA SWITCH
Former Arminia Bielefeld ace Maul is contracted to Hamburg until 2003, but he is keen to leave having failed to adapt to life at Volksparkstadion.
Speaking about his proposed transfer, Maul (pictured) said: "There are only minor details left to be cleared. I expect contracts to be signed within the next few days."
He admitted that his time with Hamburg has not been a success, adding: "I have had a terrible year in Hamburg.
"I don't want to experience such a year again. In Rostock, I'll finally have the chance to play again."
Maul, who has two German caps to his name, joined Hamburg on a free transfer from Bielefeld in the summer and coach Frank Pagelsdorf wanted him to develop into one of his key players, but injuries blighted his stay.
Despite being fit in the last few weeks, Maul has failed to even make it into the squad - prompting him to look for another club.
