"WE DID IT FOR EACH OTHER" - FREEDMAN
Freedman's winner came with just three minutes remaining on the clock, condemning Huddersfield to relegation.
"We were under a lot of pressure but we showed a lot of character. We wanted to stay up and we have stayed up. We did it for each other. I've never scored a more vital goal than that. It keeps us in the First Division," said the jubilant Scot.
Strike partner Clinton Morrison was equally delighted, saying: "Dougie's worked hard all season and I'm pleased for him that he's got the goal. It's great.
"I didn't think it was going to be our day - we were missing a lot of chances - but then Dougie popped up and put one away."
Chairman Simon Jordan expressed his immense relief at the victory after earlier blasting that he is not prepared to tolerate a similar situation next season.
"I'm delighted," he beamed. "All the lessons we have learned will be good for next year. The most important issue is that we have stayed in Division One. We can now build on this.
"It has been bloody agony. I am just glad it is all over. We can have a good break and come back fitter and more focused."
