SADNESS AT LE GUEN EXIT AS GOURCUFF MOVES IN

CHRISTIAN GOURCUFF has agreed to take control at Rennes next term, while current manager Paul Le Guen has informed the players that he will leave at the end of this season.

Rennes president Rene Ruello informed local newspaper Ouest-France that former Lorient manager Gourcuff had agreed to join and will sign a five-year deal early next week.

"Christian will add a new technique, a new style," said Ruello. "But this is not a revolution, simply an evolution.

"I am happy he has accepted our offer and believe he can take this club forward."

Le Guen`s decision to leave the club has shocked and saddened many of the squad, with defender Dominique Arribage saying: "It's a true heartbreak for everyone. I felt a man hurt, attached to the club, a man who didn't want to leave but was forced to leave."

Arribage hinted that Gourcuff may have his work cut out to win over the squad, adding: "One thing is clear, it's not a resignation. The club want to work with Christian Gourcuff. Us, the players, have nothing to say."
