REAL INTEREST IN ZZ AND TREZEGUET
Naturally this has caused a wide range of reaction with the Italian side immediately claiming that Zidane is not for sale.
According to reports in Spain, Perez could be willing to offer a fee in the region of the £40 million it took to get Luis Figo to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Zidane currently has a buy-out clause set slightly lower than Figo's was at Barcelona, but with the impending sale of their training ground, combined with a huge new TV deal, Real obviously feel they have cash at their disposal.
The possible inclusion of Real players as makeweights has been a scenario touted by the Spanish press with Michel Salgado and Claude Makelele both in the picture.
An offer in the region of £16 million by Juve for Makelele alone has been reported, whilst Madrid have already been in contact with representatives of Zidane
Zidane will be 29 in June and the rumours have been assisted by his desire to play in Spain at some point, although observers in Italy believe he could see out his contract which ends in 2005.
The star playmaker is not the only Juve player admired by Real, as having had initial approaches to Filippo Inzaghi turned down, David Trezeguet appears to be on Perez's wanted list.
With Fernando Morientes brilliant but injury prone, most of the goalscoring onus has fallen upon Raul and whilst the Spaniard often delivers, Perez believes he needs to relieve the burden on his young genius.
Trezeguet has a wealth of experience having played for Monaco, he now plays in Italy and he was also part of the France side that won the World Cup in 1998 and last summer's European Championships.
In Madrid's favour, the 23-year-old Trezeguet has spent a lot of time on the bench this year and could be looking for an exit.
He has also admitted that he is finding it hard to adjust to life in Turin and although Trezeguet is French, his parents are Argentinian, and the quicksilver striker is fluent in Spanish.
Sources in Italy claim that Juventus would be willing to do business for around 3000 million pesetas (£12 million).
