ROVERS AGREE £1.3 MILLION FEE FOR TUGAY
Rovers boss Graeme Souness will pay £1.3 million for the midfielder and he has also agreed personal terms with the player, but the deal is now subject to whether Tugay gets a work permit.
"We have moved the whole deal forward but everything is subject to the granting of a work permit. We are applying for that so nothing will be fully settled for about two weeks," Rovers' chief executive John Williams said.
Tugay played under Souness during the Scotsman's time as manager of Galatasaray where he made him his captain. The former Liverpool manager speaks highly of the 30-year-old and believes he will prove a useful addition as his side take on the big boys in the Premiership next season, following their promotion from the Nationwide League.
"He's an international player with lots of experience and I rate him extremely highly," Souness said. "He would give us something I feel we didn't have last year and we will need in the Premiership."
Souness is also keen to sign Clyde defender Gordon Greer.
The 20-year-old impressed the former Liverpool player in a recent trial with the club and a fee of £200,000 based on appearances has been agreed between the two clubs.
