MILAN JOIN BARCA IN MORENO HUNT
The man in line for the much-coveted 'Pichichi' award is set to quit the Uefa Cup runners-up and his double strike in Dortmund against Liverpool has further illustrated his eye for goal.
A number of English clubs have been trailing the 24-year-old for some time, headed by Aston Villa, and he had looked likely to join Valencia.
However, the continued hot streak of the Spanish international has alerted Milan and Barca to the prospect of signing him during the close season.
Barca are firm favourites to clinch his signature, but Milan are in the market for a new centre forward, and will battle it out with the Catalan club.
Mark Viduka, the Leeds hit-man, is another name in the frame for the rossoneri and Paolo Maldini has admitted he would like to be joined at the club by the Australian.
"Rivaldo appeals to me," said the classy defender. "Viduka has done well with Leeds.
"In defence, people like Nesta, Cannavaro and Thuram," he stated when asked what sort of players the club should target in the summer.
Maldini is looking forward to playing in Europe again next term, but he has realistic ambitions, adding: "We think not to lose against Roma. The Uefa Cup is the only goal. To speak about the Champions League is absurd."
