STOCKWELL SIGNS NEW DEAL

The 36-year-old who, was named the club`s Player of the Year, was an ever-present for Steve Whitton`s men last season.

Whitton is now waiting on a number of other players in squad to see whether they will commit their futures to the Essex club - like Stockwell.

"From a personal point of view, I hope all the lads stay because we've got a good team here," Stockwell told the club`s website.

"But they're all individuals, and they have to do what's best for them and their families. I'm sure the club wants them to stay, so fingers crossed they see their future at Layer Road."

One player who will not be staying with The U`s is Barry Conlon.

The 22-year-old Irishman has been on-loan at Colchester for most of last season, but Darlington seem to have won the race for his signature.
