RIDSDALE REFUSES TO RULE OUT FRANK BID

LEEDS UNITED chairman Peter Ridsdale has refused to rule his club out of the race to sign West Ham`s wantaway star Frank Lampard.

The 22-year-old England international is widely known to be disgruntled at the way his father, Frank Snr, left Upton Park earlier this month and a move to Leeds to join good friend Rio Ferdinand is a possibility.

However, Ridsdale has said that Leeds would not match West Ham`s valuation, which is believed to be in excess of £10 million.

"Leeds United will not be making an offer in double figures for Frank Lampard," said Ridsdale.

"David O'Leary has given me a shopping list of names he wants to bring to the club and I will be working through the summer in a bid to get them for him.

"These things can sometimes take weeks to negotiate, then within a few hours are sorted out."

It is not yet known which clubs will join Leeds in the hunt for Lampard, but Aston Villa, Tottenham and Arsenal are known admirers.

Meanwhile, Ridsdale revealed the club have launched a feasibility study into developing a new stadium or expanding their current Elland Road home.

"In order to continue to compete at the top of the Premier League and in Europe, it is important that we have the facilities to maximise match day demand and, thereby, enhance shareholder value," said the Leeds supremo.

"Included in the feasibility study will be a full consultation process involving our shareholders, the city council and our supporter base.

"No final commitment will be made until this consultation process has been completed."
