TUGAY: PLAYERS WERE SPLIT AT IBROX
The Turkish international, who is set to complete his £1.3 million move to Blackburn Rovers next week admitted that a number of Dick Advocaat's side did not get on with another.
The former Galatasaray ace feels that the in fighting among the Gers star was the major factor in an expected mass exodus from Ibrox and a trophy-less season this campaign.
"The dressing room was divided 50-50 and when that happens you have problems," Tugay told The Daily Record. "It becomes difficult to win things if everybody is not pulling in the same direction.
"A lot of the players at Rangers don't like each other so it doesn't surprise me some of them are leaving.
"I got along with the majority of the squad although I was closest to big Jorg Albertz. It has not been a good time for him recently and he was very upset he had to leave the club.
Tugay, admitted that he had wanted to stay in Scotland but that he had no choice but to leave for first team football after being continually overlooked by Advocaat.
"I'm not happy because you saw what my T-shirt said when I did my lap of honour after the Hibs game on Sunday.
"All I've ever wanted to do was play for Rangers and show the supporters what I was capable of.
"Sadly I've not been given a run in the team and because of that I've been forced to move on.
"I don't blame the manager because these things happen in football and he did what he thought was best for the team.
"When I left the ground on Sunday Mr Advocaat thanked me for my contribution and wished me all the best for the future. There were no hard feelings.
The 30-year-old is confident that he will be awarded a work permit and that his move to Ewood Park would be completed soon.
"Hopefully all the paper work will be completed next week and I can sign for Blackburn," said Tugay.
"The Premiership is one of the best leagues in the world and while I would rather still be at Rangers the move will provide me with an exciting new challenge."
