BOATENG DEFENDS GINOLA IN PAY ROW
Ginola had a clash with manager John Gregory on the final day of the season after being substituted, and was dragged into another row last week when Paul Merson stated it was unfair that the former Tottenham man earns far more than him.
Dutch midfielder Boateng hopes that Merson earns himself a pay rise, but feels that Ginola is worthy of the financial rewards bestowed on him.
Speaking on his Icons website, Boateng said: "I know there's a flap in the press about Merson and David Ginola at the moment. David Ginola gets a lot of money because he's been Footballer of the Year, and is an all round great player.
"There is nobody on our team with his attacking skills. He's one of the great talents in the Premier League. I don't think he's overpaid, but we didn't get to see enough of him this year.
"If Merson gets more money, then all the power to him. It's not really my concern, but since he was named Player of the Season, I'm sure he feels he deserves more.
"Paul is also a great player, and has been superb the last two years. Paul also featured in many more games than David, so he may have a case."
