JUNINHO CLEAR TO COMPLETE LYON MOVE

A MEETING of the Brazilian Confederation of Football, which was enforced after the Employment Ministry demanded it, has finally authorised a certificate to be granted giving permission for Juninho Pernambucano to join French side Lyon from Vasco da Gama.

In a concise note, the CBF clarified that the authorisation of the transfer was given by the Brazilian Justice department.

"This way, the CBF completed its part, allowing the transfer to take place, but the mess generated around the transfer of the midfielder - that disputed the free transfer from his former club, Vasco da Gama - can still have new chapters."

Although the CBF have not confirmed it, sources there revealed that Vasco could be willing to issue the player with a writ, as well as Lyon and also complain to Fifa about the deal.

"I don't care what Vasco says. This whole fight was the only option that I had," said the player.

In accordance with the player's lawyer, Gislaine Nunes, who successfully argued with the Employment Ministry to force the CBF to release Juninho, there is nothing  that Vasco can do to stop the transfer.

Antonio Augusto Ribeiro Reis Junior, to give Juninho his proper name, last played for Vasco on January 18 in the Joao Havelange Cup final, which his side won 3-1 beating Sao Caetano.

Irritated by the constant delayed payments of wages and being prohibited from speaking to the press, Juninho decided to appeal to the Employment Ministry to obtain a free transfer, as the club owed him three months wages.

The 26-year-old won the first decision from the labour tribunal but Vasco's lawyers successfully appealed.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Gallardo's transfer to Lyon appears to be in doubt as Monaco is in disagreement with the buying club over the transfer.

Sporting director of Lyon, Bernard Lacombe said: "His salary is very impressive and Monaco are seeking to make a large financial deal."
