VALDANO - REAL AFTER THREE PLAYERS

Zinedine Zidane is Real's top priority but a right-sided defender and perhaps a replacement for the ageing Fernando Hierro could be their other targets.

Speaking on TVE, Valdano said: "Zidane has confirmed he wants to play in Spain.

"Real Madrid knows it, now we have to know if he wants to play for Real Madrid."

The former Argentinian international revealed that Real would continue to work on the Zidane transfer.

Valdano continued: "When La Liga ends will be the moment to start negotiations.  Real Madrid's intention is to have great players and Zidane is one of them."

Valdano refused to name other targets, but said: "If a lot of players leave, we will have to sign a lot of new players.  The initial idea is to sign three, one in defence."
