CITY RULE OUT GINOLA AND GAZZA SWOOP

MANCHESTER CITY have rubbished reports linking them with a shock double swoop for Aston Villa's David Ginola and Everton midfielder Paul Gascoigne.

Reports over the weekend suggested that new Citizens boss Kevin Keegan was lining up bids for the talented duo as he bids to win promotion back to The Premiership after relegation from the top-flight in May.

Ginola's future at Villa is in doubt after a series of bust-ups with Villa manager John Gregory, and Gascoigne's stay at Everton could be finished, according to reports, if he does not come back to Goodison Park during pre-season fully-fit and focused for the new season.

Keegan has promised to bring in some big-name signings to Maine Road and he is a big fan of Ginola, whom he brought to England from Paris Saint Germain when at Newcastle, but City football director Denis Tueart revealed that neither of the two figured in Keegan's plans.

"Kevin, along with Arthur Cox, is gradually finding his feet and looking at ways to strengthen the team," said Tueart.

"However, the two names that have been mentioned in the papers have not figured in our plans."
