TERIM: 'INZAGHI NOT VITAL'

FATIH TERIM has arrived in Milan and immediately caused a storm after admitting that he does not think Filippo Inzaghi would be a crucial signing for the Rossoneri.

Adriano Galliani was ready to make a big money move for Juventus' want-away star Inzaghi, but held off until new coach Terim arrived to give his opinion.

Terim was widely thought to be prepared to go along with the signing of 'Superpippo' who has found his first team opportunities limited of late due to the form of David Trezeguet.

However, the Turkish coach admitted: "If Inzaghi is not purchased I would not be surprised because I do not think he is vital to the club."

The former Galatasaray and Fiorentina coach, who was officially announced as successor to interim coach Cesare Maldini on Sunday also stated that his ambition for his first season in to get into Europe's flagship club competition.

"The objective for the first year if to qualify for the Champions League," stated Terim - who won the Uefa cup with Galatasaray. "Although naturally it would be better if we conquered domestically first."
